The mission of the monument committee is to erect a monument in Taft dedicated to honor the men and women who have worked in the oilfields. Until the present time, no monument, building, or edifice has been dedicated to honor the accomplishments of those men and women. those to be honored would include those who have worked for major oil companies, and all who have serviced the oilfields in any manner.
With over a thousand engraved bricks already in place constructions is progressing. The monument will be the tallest bronze monument in the western US. It is 39.5 ft tall and 45 ft long…..all of bronze …with three 8 ft bronze oil workers.
